Kingz Athlete Spotlight: Jeysen Santiago dos Santos

  The Kingz team is full of some of the best Brazilian jiu-jitsu talent in the world, and some of our toughest competitors are Masters level athletes… including one of the best pound-for-pound Master 2 athletes in the world: Jeysen Santiago do Santos. jiu jitsu kimonos What does it take to earn that prestigious title? An indomitable will and tireless work ethic. Even at the age of 18, Jeysen was training four to five hours a day in his hometown of Manaus. When his academy moved locations during his purple belt years, he would walk nearly an hour to train, spending six hours on the mat, nearly every day of the week. And he’s never stopped. Today, Jeysen is a fourth degree black belt and co-owns JJ Brazilian Academy in Colton, California. In addition to teaching jiu-jitsu full-time, he still competes in the Master 2 light-feather weight division… and has his sights on that World Championship title this year.   After a crazy two-year hiatus – for reasons we all know full well – the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) was finally able to hold their prestigious World Jiu-Jitsu Championship event! Kingz Athlete Spotlight: Cole Abate

  While the history of Brazilian jiu-jitsu has long been peppered with the stories of young prodigies, this most recent group has proven to set the bar a little higher. One of the most standout young athletes of this new generation is Kingz Athlete Cole Abate.   jiu jitsu gi for women Long a dominant figure in the kid’s and juvenile divisions, Cole has benefitted from the tutelage of Rodrigo Pinheiro in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Costa Mesa to join the juvenile army of Art of Jiu-Jitsu, with Guilherme and Rafael Mendes. In 2021 he hit a new stride, taking on some of the biggest names in the sport. At just 16 years old, Cole entered the ADCC North American Trials in New Jersey, held just last November. In a division of over 160 men, Cole fought his way to the finals, submitting three opponents and outscoring four more, to finishing with a win against Keith Krikorian.   One of the most prolific Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors in the Master 1 divisions today is none other than Kingz athlete Sergio “Pichilinga” Rios. IBJJF Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships: Congrats Kingz Athletes

  Last week was the 2022 IBJJF Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships! Fully rebounded from the past two years of pandemic restrictions, this year’s edition featured more than 4,600 competitors. Win or lose, you stepped out there on the competition mat and made us proud! However, there were some standout performances that we wanted to highlight: Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu Living up to his nickname, Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu is a machine! At nearly 42 years old, Cyborg is showing the jiu-jitsu world that age is just a number and means nothing to him. After three hard fought battles in the Ultra-Heavy weight division, Cyborg faced Gutemberg Perreira in the finals.
